Dance:

Ballet – Andrea Bayne

Andrea Bayne was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick. She is a scholarship graduate of the School of Alberta Ballet and also trained at the American Ballet Theatre School in New York City. Andrea danced professionally with Alberta Ballet, the Banff Festival Company, and as a Principal Dancer with Ballet Victoria for 15 seasons, where she quickly became an audience favourite. She has performed across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Japan, and has danced works by renowned choreographers including George Balanchine, Peter Quanz, Donald Mahler, and John Meehan. Throughout her career, she had many lead roles created on her and was honoured to perform for Their Royal Highnesses, the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Career highlights range from dancing alongside Evelyn Hart in one of her farewell performances to performing for children and seniors unable to access live theatre. Following her retirement from the stage in 2022, Andrea became Ballet Victoria’s Artist in Residence, where she continues to coach, choreograph, mentor, and guest with the company. Andrea has taught throughout Vancouver Island and has led master classes across North America and Japan, as well as adjudicated festivals and competitions in British Columbia. Andrea currently serves as Artistic Director of both the Ballet Victoria Conservatory and the BVC Aspirant Program. Under her leadership, BVC students have received scholarships to internationally recognized professional schools, and graduates have earned contracts with Ballet Victoria and companies worldwide. Andrea also completed the Bolshoi Ballet Teacher Certification Program Level A. Andrea is passionate about passing on her knowledge of the classical Vaganova technique while fostering artistry, discipline, and confidence in the next generation of dancers.

Tap, Stage and Song & Dance – Rebecca Martselos

Becky Martselos is a dance educator, adjudicator, studio owner, and festival leader with over 35 years of experience in the performing arts industry. Professionally trained at Laine Theatre Arts in England, she enjoyed a 12-year international career as a performer and Dance Captain with Carnival Cruise Lines and Celebrity Cruise Lines.  Becky is the Owner and Artistic Director of Accentz Dance Studio in Vernon, BC, where she has inspired dancers since 2005. She is a fully certified teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in Ballet, Modern Theatre, National Dance, and Tap, and is passionate about developing dancers through both examinations and competitive performance.  As a certified Pilates Mat and Reformer instructor, Becky integrates principles of strength, alignment, and body awareness into her teaching and adjudication, promoting healthy movement and dancer longevity. She also serves as President of the Vernon Performing Arts Festival, a Performing Arts BC member festival, giving her a strong understanding of festival standards, syllabus requirements, and the educational value of constructive adjudication.  Becky’s philosophy is to provide thoughtful, encouraging feedback that inspires confidence, celebrates artistry, and supports every dancer’s continued growth.
